Beverly Running Bear is a Lakota Language instructor at Black Hills State University in South Dakota. As a Native speaker, she has dedicated much of her life to passing on her language and helping to pass on the traditions of her culture. She will travel to Scottsbluff for six weeks to offer Lakota lessons to all levels of learners.

Beverly Running Bear is of the Oglala Lakota of the Oceti Sakowin Oyate. She was born on Pine Ridge Reservation and grew up in Wounded Knee. She earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from Black Hills State University in Business Administration Specializing in Healthcare Administration and American Indian Studies
